Artcamp 2009 | Hartenberg

Three weeks in basic living conditions among enthusiastic people, in a creative atmosphere in the middle of nature, without solving any complicated problems.

Documentation and architecture – that´s how the theme of this artcamp could be described. We tried to capture houses in the village Hřebeny, a former old brewery and the castle itself, of course. At the end, everyone found a technique and motives which fitted them best. We were drawing and painting scattered in the surroundings of the castle, or gathered together on the wooden stage in the courtyard. The people more concerned in realistic drawing could learn more about basic rules of perspective, as there were two architects in our group. The photographic documentation – the quickest way to capture the moment – was provided by another two volunteers with their own professional cameras. We also made some videos showing archeological researches in the castle or excursion to Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). We visited beautiful places as well as areas devastated by mining. Our free time was filled with trips to the Karlovy Vary Spa (Carlsbad) and to surrounding places, such as Loket Castle or the Town of Cheb. We also tried camping and canoeing on the River Ohře a bit.
